The Diabetes Blog retired
The choice to stop publishing these three blogs is a business decision, and has nothing whatsoever to do with their quality. I am, and everyone here is, deeply grateful to the bloggers whose dedication to these sites gave so much information and inspiration to thousands of people. These three blogs are among the longest-running properties in our network, and it is sad to let them go.
Thank you to our many readers for visiting us, and sharing in the community here.

3. I agree it was not the wisest decision. If AOL wants to attract targeted advertising dollars, you aren't going to do that via the AOL Instant Messenger service. But I cannot change your decision, but I will go on the record as saying I don't think this will be remembered as the best business decision AOL has ever made.
Luckily, I have little doubt that the bloggers here are likely to find a suitable venue for their talents!
5. I always read this blog! I am so annoyed! Allie, how could they do this?!

6. That is sad news, we have been following this blog for a long time now. For those readers who have found good info here in the past try looking at the health blog over at http://www.rezoom.com/blogs/wellnessreport/

7. AOL/Weblogs Inc people, consider turning to the diabetes blogging community and you'll get tons of consumer-oriented content from them.
There's a dozen companies off the top of my head that I could make people aware of and reveal to the 20 million+ diabetics out there.
Give it a chance!

11. I agree with Sara, you must re-consider. But let me also thank you for such a good blog that provide a lot of resources and information about diabetes.
http://www.daily-diabetic.com/50226711/use_berberine_to_fight_type_2_diabetes.php
12. Are there any side effects or interactions?
Berberine has been reported to interfere with normal liver function in infants, raising a concern that it might worsen jaundice. For this reason, berberine-containing plants, including barberry, goldenseal, and Oregon grape should be used with caution during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Strong standardized extracts may cause stomach upset and should be used for no more than two weeks continuously. Other symptoms of excessive berberine intake include lethargy, nose bleed, skin and eye irritation, and kidney irritation.

13. This is too bad as the world needs more and better information regarding diabetes. I am a diabetic and launched a site to do that last year at http://www.dsolve.com.
The focus of that site is on how to achieve normal blood sugars using a low carb and low insulin approach. This brought my A1c down from 8.0 to 5.0 (I am type 1 of 28 years). I hope some of you may find it of interest.
Thanks,
Ryan

16. I wouldn't mind taking over the site (or buying it) to keep it alive and well. I could make it a nice addition to my recipes blog. http://www.thediabeticcookbook.com
Email me if you're interested.
17. Well, darn, I was going to try and use the blog to find information to add to my site http://www.bloodsugaraware.com. As long as the information stays available, I guess I can use it, but boy I just don't see it as good business to retire a blog about diabetes. Number of people that are being diagnosed is just going to keep increasing (as Sara said on the first comment).
18. Try http://texanforayear.blogspot.com/ for diabetes (juvenile)
19. Try http://texanforayear.blogspot.com/ for diabetes (juvenile)

1. A horrible business decision if you ask me. The number of diabetics in the world is increasing and instead of recognizing the increasing market you basically cut off your foot.
