Eight-year-old boy's lemonade stand raises money for diabetes cure

It's nice to start the week with a heart-warming story. As it so happens, I have a good one: It's about eight-year-old Connor Broyles of Alton, Illinois. Connor has Type 1 diabetes and really, really wants to make his own little contribution to help find a cure for the disease. As a result, he became a budding entrepreneur, using that time-honored method of fund-raising: the neighborhood lemonade stand.

Showing a strong sense of entrepreneurial good sense, Connor took his lemonade stand to the local high school graduation, where there are guaranteed to be thirsty crowds. As a result, he made over $1,000 last year and about the same this year. He also received numerous other donations from giving members of the community. The stand has a nice name too: "Connor's Quench for the Cure."
